Ticket to Reading Rewards!

Hey Pearl C. Readers! I've got some exciting news for you! Our school has been selected to participate in a special reading program that will make you eligible for lots of prizes and rewards for each book that you read this year. Now, we all know that reading is a reward in itself...what could be a better prize than being a strong reader for life? However, some organizations like to throw in some smaller perks along the way...and so our school will get to benefit of some of those little extras.

Starting the week after Thanksgiving, we will start tracking your reading. After 5 books, 10 books, 15 books, 20 books, and 25 books, you will be eligible for a new prize. Prizes include backpacks, water bottles, watches, and more. Tickets to college basketball games and visits from college coaches are also possibilities. Also, every single student will be receiving a free one-year subscription to "Sports Illustrated for Kids", delivered to your home! Now, that's pretty cool!

Don't forget that you will still be eligible to receive punches for the "Ice Cream for Books" program and 6th graders are still participating in "Book It." There are plenty of good reasons to read at Pearl C. this year so hope to see you in the library SOON!

Welcome Back!!

Hello Pearl C. Anderson readers!!! Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and that you made some time to read during your break!

When I got back to school, seven big boxes of new books were waiting for me. I spent all day yesterday unpacking these books and putting them on the shelves for you and I just got so excited because I think you are going to really enjoy them this year.

Last year our school did really well with checking out and reading books and I definitely want to continue that this year. The only thing we need to improve on is BRINGING THEM BACK!!! So let's work on keeping up with these beautiful new books!!
